It was recently announced that the long-awaited return of Galt Drama and live plays has finally arrived. Since the pandemic hit, it halted the production of plays not only on Broadway, but within the school as well. Only the Performing Arts plays, which were done online to accommodate the situation, continued. This was the case for the shows of 2021, Mirror Mirror from the Cycle 1 class and School Picture Day from the Level 3 class. The last Galt Drama production dates back to 2019, with Crazy Cowgirls of Pemberley Ranch.

There will be a meeting September 22nd at lunch in Y-206 (the Performing Arts classroom) for everyone who is interested in participating. Whether it's being in the play, or being part of the backstage crew, there's something for everyone. All you need is the willingness to participate in the after-school rehearsals. All the information you could need including auditions will be addressed at that time.
Ms. Sylvester, the director of this year's play revealed that the audience is "in for a big surprise. It's gonna keep you on the edge of your seat and will leave you saying 'I was not expecting that at all'". She said that she is "beyond excited" to be able to have a live audience, as it brings "so much more to the performance." Starting her drama career at Galt when she was in level three, so she is excited to be back and direct a show. She was part of shows such as M*A*S*H*.
"Just be yourself," she affirmed upon asking if she had any advice for people looking into auditioning. "Be prepared but don't stress about it too much. The play was written with specific characters in mind, and just because there might not be a character for you, it doesn't mean you're not a phenomenal actor, and that there won't be future opportunities."
Valerie Papillon's reaction to learning Galt would have a play was, "wooooh!". When asking her if she had anything to say to potential auditionees, she said, "Just try it. One of the best things about being in a play is being part of a tight-knit family." Having been a part of many plays such as The Crazy Cowgirls of Pemberley Ranch, she continued by saying, "performing gives you an adrenaline high and that's the funnest part."
The Piper Post will continue covering Galt Drama and their show throughout the year.
