Avery Grambs has a plan for a better future: survive high school, win a scholarship, and get out. But her luck changes in an instant when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves her virtually his entire fortune. The only catch? Avery must move into his sprawling mansion, full of secret passages, riddles, and codes. Unfortunately for Avery, Hawthorne House is also occupied by the family that was just disinherited. This includes four Hawthorne grandsons: dangerous, magnetic boys who grew up with every expectation that, one day, they would inherit billions.

Heir apparent Grayson is convinced that Avery is a con woman, and he’s determined to take her down. But his brother Jameson views her as their grandfather’s last hurrah: a twisted riddle, a puzzle to be solved. Caught in a world of wealth and privilege, with danger around every turn, Avery will have to play the game herself to survive. - As stated on the book’s back cover

The Inheritance Games is a Young Adult romance mystery intended for readers aged 13 to 19. The Inheritance Games is filled with a series of intriguing riddles, plot twists, and character development. The book also shows the importance of family loyalty, even though it draws attention to the fact that the concept can be carried too far and become destructive.

This novel is worthy of a five-star rating and is well worth your time. The novel is a page-turner that keeps you on the edge of your seat as you attempt to solve the mystery. The novel is fast-paced and has short chapters, which are two of the greatest qualities in a book. It’s an award winning thriller that’s a fantastic book to get you into reading. It never becomes dull, and keeps your curiosity peaked.

As someone who loves to read and has read a great deal of books, I would consider this one of my favourite reads. I had a strong connection to the characters and often found myself disappearing into the plot. It’s a great novel to lose yourself in, and will forever have a place in my heart. I would give anything to be able to read it for the first time again.

The Inheritance Games is the first in the trilogy, followed by The Hawthorne Legacy, and concluding with The Final Gambit. The last novel in the series — The Final Gambit — will be released on August 30, 2022.
