We're going back to the 2000s… A time where low rise was cool and when the last of peak cinema occurred. The 2000s gave humanity many iconic things in terms of music, movies, and when you think of it… us. The fashion had its moments, but overall looked really cool and cohesive.
Thanks to the 20-year trend cycle, a lot of 2000s (Y2K) fashion is making a comeback. Some fashion trends I believe aged surprisingly well include cargo pants, funky sunglasses, baguette bags, baby tees, butterfly hair clips, mini skirts, butterfly tops, denim on denim (the "Canadian tuxedo"), and sequins. I question many fashion decisions made in this decade, however. Low rise and dresses on top of jeans should be considered fashion crimes.
On the other hand I will never question 2000s music. A vast majority of artists I enjoy today started their careers in the 2000s, such as Taylor Swift and the Arctic Monkeys. Besides them, 2000s music also had artists like Britney Spears, Nelly Furtado, Gwen Stefani, The Strokes, Paramore, Rihanna, Avril Lavigne, Eminem, Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga, and Gorillaz, which I personally enjoy. In this decade, people devoured music genres like hip hop, pop, post-grunge, and nu metal. Rock was (mostly) relevant as well.
I wholeheartedly believe the 2000s was the last peak of cinema. Society was blessed with cult classics such as Legally Blonde, Mean Girls, The Princess Diaries, Jennifer’s Body, The Shrek franchise, 13 Going on 30, Kill Bill, Confessions of a Shopaholic, The Devil Wears Prada, a few Harry Potter movies, Mamma Mia, the Twilight franchise, The Notebook, High School Musical, Freaky Friday, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, A Cinderella Story, 500 Days of Summer, 27 Dresses, and so many others. It’s overwhelming knowing the great selection the 2000s gave us. I might have been too young when these movies originally came out, but I adore lots of them today.
