Valentine's day is near. The best way to live life is through other people, so I present you with some romance movies to indulge in.


1. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

Running time: 1h37m

Where to watch: Disney+

Popular and gorgeous Bianca Stratford is suffering. She is prohibited from dating by a house rule which states that until her rebellious, unpopular older sister Kat finds a boyfriend of her own, Bianca can't date. A potential boyfriend desperately tries to match Kat with Patrick Verona, another rebel who might just be able to win Kat's heart, in an effort to win Bianca.


2. La La Land (2016)

La La Land, the tale of aspiring actress Mia and committed jazz musician Sebastian, who work hard to support themselves while chasing their aspirations in a place notorious for killing dreams and shattering hearts. This musical about ordinary life addresses what is more important: a once-in-a-lifetime love or the spotlight with contemporary Los Angeles as the setting.

Zach Siler, a popular student in high school, loses his prom queen girlfriend to a sleazy TV soap star. On the rebound, he accepts his best friend's bet that he can get together with gawky, nerdy Laney Boggs and win her the crown of prom queen. Outstanding friend, hard challenge. However, Zach starts to notice Laney a lot more once she takes rid of her glasses, does her hair, and dons some excellent clothes. How cliché but it was the 90's so I can't really blame them for that. Fun movie nonetheless, don't watch the remake, however.


4. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018-2021)

Lara Jean keeps her love letters in a hatbox that her mother gave her. These are her own love letters; they are not ones that someone else wrote for her. Five in total, one for each boy she has ever loved. Because her letters are private to her, she is able to express herself fully and say things that she would never do in person. Up until the day her secret letters are sent, when Lara Jean's imaginary love life rapidly spirals out of control.

A young kid named Simon Spier experiences a different kind of Romeo and Juliet story in this coming-of-age story.He keeps a huge secret from his family, friends, and classmates: he's gay . Simon has to confront everyone and accept who he is while that secret is in danger. Along with that, through email, Simon is in love with a boy named Blue, but there's just one problem: Simon has no idea who he's talking to. Simon needs to identify the boy, or Blue. He also searches for himself along the journey.


6. Clueless (1995)

This modernized Beverly Hills adaptation of the Jane Austen novel Emma, follows Cher Horowitz. She is wealthy, pretty, blonde, well-liked, and excellent at persuading people to do just about anything. Cher and her friend Dionne, play matchmakers for two teachers. Inspired by their success, Cher takes under her wing Tai, a "clueless" transfer student. They attempt to find Tai a boyfriend and give her a makeover when she transfers to their school. After a short while, Cher realizes she wants a boyfriend of her own, but nobody seems right. Before she meets the boy of her dreams, she has a spiritual makeover and discovers that there is more to life than clothes and popularity.



7. Sixteen Candles (1984)

Will Jake ever notice her? Will Samantha make her wish come true and blow out her sixteen candles?

Twenty-year-old Sophie Sheridan resides on a beautiful Greek island with her mother Donna Sheridan. She doesn't know who her father is, which is the only issue, and her mother won't talk to her about it. She invites three guys who might be that man after discovering her mother's diary from the year she was born. Sophie is certain that she would recognise her father the moment she sees him, but she quickly comes to the realization that she has no idea. Mayhem ensues when her mother is displeased and confused that the three men are there, and said men all think they're the father. On top of that Sophie's fiancé is getting fed up with the whole mess.

When she meets Will, an incredibly charming teen with the same disease, her life's routines, limits, and self-control are all put to the test. Despite the fact that they are required to keep a safe distance between them due to constraints, there is an instant connection. The temptation to ignore the rules and give into that connection grows stronger as their relationship does. Based on a book with the same name.


10. The Fault In Our Stars (2014)

Hazel Grace Lancaster, a 16-year-old cancer patient, meets and falls in love with Gus Waters, a fellow patient in her cancer support group. Gus seems to truly comprehend Hazel, in her opinion. Both of them are sharp-witted and passionate readers, especially Grace, whose favourite book is Peter Van Houten's "An Imperial Affliction." When Gus scores an invitation to meet the reclusive author, he and Hazel embark on the adventure of their brief lives. This movie is originally a novel of the same name written by John Green.


11. A Cinderella Story (2004)

Samantha Montgomery, a teenager from California, is required to work as a dishwasher and janitor in her stepmother Fiona's cafe. Sam starts a relationship with a boy via anonymous text messaging and email following a cell phone mix-up. They decide to meet up at a school dance, but Samantha panics when she learns that her secret pen friend is none other than Austin Ames, the cutest boy in school, and tries to find a way to be cooler.


12. Pride and Prejudice (2005)

The enemies to lovers trope was born when Jane Austen wrote "Pride and Prejudice". The story follows Elizabeth Bennet who resides in the English countryside with her parents and sisters. The pressure from her parents to get married is increasing because she is the oldest. Sparks fly when the outspoken Elizabeth is introduced to the handsome and wealthy Mr. Darcy. Even though there is undeniable chemistry between them, Darcy's excessive reserve endangers their budding relationship.
